Jonathan is an award winning writer, photographer, and radio journalist currently writing a memoir exploring the psychological and societal factors that transform ordinary individuals into agents of violence.
Before that, he was an enterprise reporter covering policing and extremism in the Pacific Northwest for Oregon Public Broadcasting.
Jonathan has reported from Mexico, the Middle East, and Afghanistan. His journalism has appeared in The Washington Post, NPR, ESPN, Bloomberg News and the CBC among others.
He spent five years as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army and has a master’s degree in international affairs from Columbia University. He is currently pursuing an MFA in creative nonfiction from NYU.
He is based in Northern California.
